Raul Duarte

I am a doctoral candidate in Political Economy and Government, with research interests spanning political economy, economic development, comparative politics, and public finance. My coauthored research is published at the Review of Economic Studies.

I will join Florida International University as an Assistant Professor of Economics in 2027, after a postdoctoral fellowship with the Cowles Foundation for Research in Economics at Yale University with their Political Economy program.

Among my specific research interests are state capacity, corruption, applied machine learning, social networks, electoral integrity, and clientelism.

I am affiliated with the Center for International Development (CID), the Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS), the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs (WCFIA), and the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS) at Harvard University, and worked as a consultant for the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.

Before my doctoral studies, I graduated from Harvard Kennedy School's MPA/ID program and from Washington University in St. Louis where I studied Economics and Mathematics.
