I am a doctoral candidate in [Political Economy and Government](https://www.hks.harvard.edu/educational-programs/doctoral-programs/phd-political-economy-government), with research interests spanning political economy, economic development, comparative politics, and public finance. My coauthored research is published at the *Review of Economic Studies*.

I will join [Florida International University](https://economics.fiu.edu/index.html) as an Assistant Professor of Economics in 2027, after a postdoctoral fellowship with the [Cowles Foundation for Research in Economics](https://cowles.yale.edu/visiting-faculty/postdoctoral-fellows-program) at Yale University with their [Political Economy program](https://cowles.yale.edu/political-economy).

Among my specific research interests are state capacity, corruption, applied machine learning, social networks, electoral integrity, and clientelism.

I am affiliated with the Center for International Development ([CID](https://www.hks.harvard.edu/centers/cid/about-cid/people/phd-affiliates/raul-duarte)), the Institute for Quantitative Social Science ([IQSS](https://www.iq.harvard.edu/people/ra%C3%BAl-duarte)), the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs (WCFIA), and the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies ([DRCLAS](https://www.drclas.harvard.edu/people/raul-duarte)) at Harvard University, and worked as a consultant for the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.

Before my doctoral studies, I graduated from Harvard Kennedy School's [MPA/ID program](https://www.hks.harvard.edu/educational-programs/masters-programs/master-public-administration-international-development) and from Washington University in St. Louis where I studied Economics and Mathematics.
